Atlas of Endoscopic Ultrasonography

Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) has been performed at Haukeland University
Hospital, University of Bergen, since 1987. This method has made it possible to
image small lesions which often can not be seen using other imaging techniques,
and to obtain EUS-guided biopsies, to perform EUS-guided therapeutic procedures
and to study pathophysiology of the gut.
The aim of this atlas is to demonstrate EUS-images of the upper gastrointestinal
tract using dedicated echoendoscopes with rotating and linear transducers as well
as transendoscopic miniprobes. Furthermore, images of EUS-guided diagnostic
and therapeutic procedures, EUS-examination of gut motility, 3D-EUS and
EUS-elastography are presented. Serial EUS-images of lesions displayed in
different scanning planes and using different EUS-modes and equipment
are also shown.
