Towards an Understanding of a Contact Zone Between Peoples, Cultures and States.

Global Moments in the Levant – Towards an Understanding of a Contact Zone Between Peoples, Cultures and States.
An interdisciplinary team effort, centered at the University of Bergen in Norway, Global Moments in the Levant (GML) seeks to understand long-term and contemporary adaptational structures of peoples, cultures and states located in an intercontinental contact zone — in this case the Levant or Middle East. Including inputs from scholars and researchers in development studies, historical and prehistoric archaeology, historical geography, history, Middle Eastern and Islamic studies, social anthropology, and sociology, GML is truly a collaborative community of scholars.
The project is based at the University of Bergen, under the academic leadership of Professor Leif Manger and funded by the  Research Council of Norway .
