Forskningsgruppen dekker feltet museumsstudier og kulturformidling fra innholdsanalyse til design og utvikling av utstillinger og prototyper. Historiske og kulturanalytiske perspektiver setter museumsrepresentasjoners faglige, sosiale og politiske endringer i fokus. Studiene er ofte internasjonale og arbeid er gjort i Australia, Kina, Danmark, Sverige, Panama, Hawaii, Sør-Afrika og Norge. Prototype-utvikling og analyse av digitale datasystemer forskes på innenfor et bredt anvendelsesområde – fra dataspill til systemer for informasjonsgjenfinning. Også her er arbeidet internasjonalt og kryssdisiplinært og har involvert samarbeid både i Norge og i utlandet.

CAIM: Context Aware Image Management
Joan Nordbotten is member of the CAIM project. The CAIM project introduces image context-awareness as a means of supporting image-based information retrieval in distributed and mobile environments. An image can be associated with multiple contexts and knowledge of these contexts can enhance the quality of the information retrieval process.
