Suzanne Ledahl - New PhD Student at The Gade Institute
Suzanne Ledahl has recently been employed as PhD student at The Gade Institute.
Project
Suzanne’s project is currently entitled “Sjögren’s Syndrome and Mucosal Vaccination”. Sjögren’s Syndrome (SS) is an autoimmune disease affecting primarily exocrine tissue – in particular salivary- and tear-glands. Until now, no effective treatment of SS exists.
Suzanne’s aim is to study whether a newly developed vaccine could reduce inflammation and clinical symptoms of SS. This will be a continuation of work previously done both at the University of Gothenburg and at Broegelmann Research Laboratory, The Gade Institute.
Further, Suzanne will also be comparing histopathological findings and MR-images in experimental SS models. In future, this will be useful for studying disease progression, as well as in therapeutic studies.
Financing and work place
Suzanne’s project is financed by the Norwegian Research Council, and the University of Bergen. Her period of employment runs from February 1, 2011 until January 31, 2015. Suzanne's work place is at Broegelmann Research Laboratory, and she will primarily work with postdoctor Nicolas Delaleu in her research.
