I came to Bergen as an exchange student from Germany in 2002 and decided to stay and complete my master’s degree at the Department of Earth Science. I am now a PhD candidate in paleoceanography, studying geological archives in the ocean to better understand the climate system. One of the great advantages with the master’s program is that it is so well organized and the lectures are focused towards your main topic. And even as a master student you are closely involved in the research at the department and the associated research centers – in my case the Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research. This gives the opportunity to work on very interesting research topics already when doing your master’s thesis.”
