Laboratory Facilites
The Department of Earth Sciense runs a number of different research laboratories housing a wide spectrum of modern equipment for analysis and lab experiments. The department has access to the electron microscopes of the faculty as well as the university’s research vessels. This includes ”G.O. Sars” – one of the most advanced ships serving science today.

Bergen Geoanalytical Facility
The Bergen Geoanalytical Facility consists of seven labs - ICP-MS/ICP-OES laboratory, TIMS laboratory, clean laboratory, laboratory for Raman spectrometry, X-ray laboratory, laboratory for geobiology and core scanner laboratory.

GMS lab
The Geological Mass Spectrometry laboratory is a state of the art lab for analyzing oxygen, nitrogen and carbon isotopes in geological and biological samples.

Cosmogenic nuclide laboratory
A laboratory dedicated to mineral separation and extraction of cosmogenic nuclides from rock and sediment samples.

The paleomagnetic laboratory is equipped with a full range of instruments for paleomagnetic and mineral-magnetic analysis.

This is a laboratory of analytical electron microscopy at the University of Bergen. The laboratory has two scanning electron microscope, three transmission microscope, and a preparation laboratory

Laboratory dedicated to uranium-thorium dating of speleothem and corals.
