Weather Forecasting for Energy Applications
Abstract
The seminar will present recent NCAR led weather forecast applications for renewable energy. In particular, it will focus on the challenges in developing integrated systems to nowcast and forecast for wind and solar energy. Examples of successful systems for wind and solar energy will be described.

Short biography
Roy Rasmussen has a PhD from UCLA in Atmospheric Sciences and is Senior Scientist and Director of Hydrometeorology Applications Program. His current resarch interests include: water cycle studies, regional climate change and variability, nowcasting, and microphysical parameterizations.
