Roundtable Discussions


There will be two roundtable discussions, one on the vote and representation and one on theory, equality and democracy.

Confirmed panelists for these two debates are:

 

Senior Researcher Cathrine Holst, Centre for European Studies, University of Oslo, Norway. Dr. Holst’s main fields of academic interest are social inequality and the welfare state, including theories of justice, philosophy of social science, feminist theory. She is currently working with the institutionalisation of European equality politics, and is an important voice in  Norwegian public debate.

Professor Emerita of History June Purvis, University of Portsmouth, Great Britain. Professor Purvis has focused on the women's suffrage movement in Great Britain on which she has published extensively. Her book Emmeline Pankhurst: A Biography (2002) received critical acclaim and she is currently working on a biography on Christabel Pankhurst. Professor Purvis is also editor of the journal Women's History Review, and contributes regularly to debates in the Guardian.

Associate Professor in Political Science and Senior Lecturer in Gender Studies Malin Rönnblom, Umeå University, Sweden.

Associate Professor Rönnblom’s main focus of research is critical investigations of democracy and equality. Current research interest span from studying regional politics and equality politics, equality strategies in academia, as well as methodological and theoretical questions of equality.
