Fellesseminar ved IFT: In situ analysemetoder for sporing av tidlig liv
Forsker Mark van Zuilen, Institutt for geovitenskap/Senter for geobiologi, UiB, gir et fellesseminar over ovennevnte tema.
Abstrakt:
Morphological identification of microfossils in the metamorphosed early Earth rock record has been highly controversial. Structural, chemical and isotopic characterization of small scale objects in polished rock slabs such as mineral assemblages, microlaminae, and organic microstructures is therefore of crucial importance in reconstructing the earliest evolution of life. Several of these in-situ analytical techniques will be discussed, with emphasis on Raman spectroscopy and secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS, NanoSIMS).
