Sammendrag av foredragene:

Tommy Kaas: "New challenges for the CAR-reporter"

The partners of Kaas & Mulvad have since mid-90's worked with computer-assisted reporting. In the beginning we asked the authorities for data, made simple spreadsheet analysis and printed endless rows of
information in our printed purblications. With the growth of available data things have changed. Today we journalist are writing code to fetch data on the web, we are building our own data libraries, we are analyzing in many different ways, and we're also writing code in an attempt to present our angled informations on the web in an meaningful way. In my talk I'll give some examples from our daily work.

Nick Diakopoulos: "Playable Data
"
In this talk I will explore the intersection of journalistic storytelling with game design and interaction science, the study of methods for creating knowledge through the manipulation of an interface, in the context of interactive data-driven information graphics. In particular, I will present game design as one subset of interactive narrative synthesis that can help shed light on how to create interactive visual experiences with ancillary benefits related to sensemaking, insight generation, and engagement with data. Preliminary design experiences in this space will serve as starting-points for further discussion on how to make journalistic data more engaging and playable.
