WUN supports a diverse range of research activities across all disciplines and encourages, in particular, research of an interdisciplinary nature.
Through joint research collaboration WUN members are able to pool their resources and intellectual power to achieve collective international objectives that meet the needs of our global society.
WUN Global Challenges was launched in 2009 as response from the WUN member universities to act as responsible global partners. The definition of WUN Global Challenge is a broad theme that addresses generally recognisable challenges and opportunities presented which is too large for one single member or a bilateral group to tackle. Currently four WUN Global Challenges are identified:
- Adapting to Climate Change
- Understanding Cultures
- Global Higher Education and Research
- Public Health: non-communicable disease (NCD)
