The Strategic Programme for International Research and Education (SPIRE) aims to support the University of Bergen Internationalisation Strategy and raise the University´s international profile. SPIRE provides central university seed money for building collaborative research and/or learning and teaching initiatives with the University´s strategic international partners. UiB academic members of staff can apply for funding according to the annual SPIRE call for proposals.

SPIRE incorporates three possible funding streams:

1. SPIRE International Network Grants
2. SPIRE Research Workshop and Contact Grant
3. SPIRE Visiting Researcher Grant
