On Campus
There are approximately 25,000 students in Bergen. About 14 500 of them are students at the University of Bergen. They are a familiar feature of Bergen's urban landscape, but most of all, you will find a lot of activity in the more than 160 organizations, societies, clubs and associations that the students are responsible for.

Semester Start
The Academic Year at the University of Bergen is divided into 2 semesters. Each semester starts with an Introductory Programme for all new International Students.

'Your Guide' Brochure
The information brochure Your Guide provides new international students with neccessary and practical information, both before arriving in Norway and also serves as a handy reference while studying at the University of Bergen.

Residence Permit
Except for citizens of Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Sweden, all international students and personnel need a residence permit if they intend to stay in Norway for more than three months.

Student Accommodation
The Student Welfare Organisation in Bergen (SiB) offers a large number of accommodation units for students at the University of Bergen.

Finances
In general the Universty of Bergen offers no scholarships or other kinds of financial support to students on undergraduate and postgraduate levels. International students are ususally either self-financed or financed through their study programme/home university.
