PhD candidate Blandina Mmbaga won the prize for best poster at the conference “Contributions to Global Health Research, Capacity Building and Governance”.
The conference focused on the discrepancy between effort invested in health research and the extent to which this research effort is benefiting the majority of the world`s population. The aim was to enhance our understanding of how Norwegian key partners, in cooperation with the global health community, can contribute by strengthening research, capacity building and governance.
The conference was visited by nearly 250 people, with participants from many countries such as Malawi, India, Tanzania, The United States, Ghana, Sudan and others. About 60 posters were approved for the poster exhibition this year, which is a record number!
In this tough competition Blandina Mmbaga was awarded the prize of best poster with her poster entitled Cause specific neonatal mortality in a neonatal care unit in northern Tanzania: A registry based cohort study.
The committee who elected her stated that the research Blandina presented in her poster was based in an interesting project, it contained a lot of useful information but still managed to be simple and neat. The layout and general presentation of the poster was very good and easily understood by the audience. They also pointed out that Blandina’s use of pictures in the poster served to enhance the content.
