Section for Physiotherapy SciencePhysiotherapy represents an approach to health and function based upon the human body and human movement interacting with the environment. Physiotherapy aims at promoting, maintaining and restoring physical, psychological and social well-being. The Section for Physiotherapy Science was established at the University of Bergen in 1995 with the overall goal to bridge the gap between physiotherapy science and clinical work. Two MSc programs and a PhD program are offered. The Advanced Master of Science (MSc) Program in Physiotherapy is a 2 years full time or 4 years part time study (MSc theses), while the Clinical Master in Manual Therapy for Physiotherapists is a full time study over 2 years. The former program focuses on the human body and human movement in a health perspective, the latter gives further education in examination and treatment of disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Research at the Section for Physiotherapy Science covers 3 main topics: (1) Motor control and learning. (2) Musculoskeletal disorders, and (3) Measurement and assessment in physiotherapy. The section is extensively engaged in national and international co-operative research, and projects span from basic science to clinical studies (PhD theses). | ||
