The highest disservice a man can render to his dear community is to keep silent in the face of persecution and tyranny. The Nigerian Military Junta is now like a dangerous-looking Vampire that is battle-ready to suck the blood of the opposition groups. The hand-writing is very clear on the Nigerian wall. The usual flagrant abuse of human rights of Nigerians is a negation of the International law on the human rights policy, such as the detention (without proper trials) of the pro-democracy activists, politicians, students, labour unionists etc, the assassination of the opposition groups, the recent proscription of the three main trade unions in the Nigerian Universities such as ASUU, SSANU and NASU.
Nigeria is now being mis-ruled by the self-centered, narrowly- minded and trickish military officers that are hell-bent in destroying the most populous black nation in the whole world. The evils that men do still live after them.
On the 7th of October 1995, Chief Alfred Rewane - a veteran Nigerian politician, elder statesman, nationalist, social critic and NADECO Chieftain was brutally assassinated in his residence in Lagos-Nigeria by hired assassins. The Nigerian Military junta is yet to tell the whole world their police investigations with respect to his gruesome murder. As if that was not enough for Nigerians, on the 4th of June 1996, Alhaja (Mrs) Kudirat Olayinka Abiola (wife of the detained President- elect of Federal Republic of Nigeria - Chief Bashorun M.K.O. Abiola) was also inhumanly assassinated in cold blood by unknown gunmen. It was a political killing of the highest order. The bullets used for both gruesome assassinations were highly sophisticated, very scarce and imported (Military exclusive item).
On the 10th of November 1995, the renowned environmentalist, great writer, poet, social critic and human rights activist - Mr. Kenule Benson Saro-Wiwa and his other eight tribesmen were "judicially murdered" through special hanging which is the most primitive and out-dated method of punishment. Goodbye patriots! What a "grandmaster" shame for a country like NIGERIA to be a major violator of human rights in the whole world?
The national president of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF DEMOCRATIC LAWYERS (NADL) in Nigeria - Mr. Femi Falana was dictatorially arrested early 1996 and no criminal charges were levelled against him ever since his unlawful and illegal arrest.
Mr. Femi Falana was released December 1996
He was released from detention December 1996. Chief Frank Ovie Kokori of the NUPENG (President of the Oil workers labour union) was still being inhumanly held since 1994 despite his deteriorating state of health. There are many VERY IMPORTANT PRISONERS (V.I.P.) that are currently serving different jail terms and some awaiting trials in various prisons in NIGERIA such as Bashorun MKO Abiola, Dr. Beko Ransome Kuti, General Olusegun Obasanjo (Rtd), Major General Shehu Musa Yar'adua (Rtd), Chief Gani Oyesola Fawehinmi (released December 1996), Mr. Chima Ubani, Mr. Lanre Lijadu, Mrs. Chris Anyanwu, Alhaji Ganiyu Dawodu, Mr. Kunle Ajibade, Mr. Gbenga Awosode, Alhaji Shehu Sani, Mr. George Mbah, Mr. Ben-Charles Obi, Mr. Olu Akerele, some pro-democracy Military Officers, journalists, Nigerian student activists and other pro- democracy Nigerians, many Nigerians have been forced into exiles abroad or narrowly escaped being assassinated secretly by the Military junta of Abacha, namely Prof. Wole Soyinka, Chief Anthony Enahoro, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, Senator Bola Tinubu, Mr. Tokunbo Afikuyomi, Dr Kayode Fayemi, Chief Ralph Obioha, Mr. Dele Momodu, Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi, Mr. Ledun Mittee, Major General Alani Akinrinade (Rtd), Alhaji Dan Suleimon, Colonel David Mark, Dr. Owens Wiwa, and other Nigerian democrats. Some pro-democracy activities who are not in exile abroad have gone underground for their dear lives. The oppression by the Nigerian Military is too much for us. SOS.
The secret trial of the 14 Ogoni youths are still in progress in Nigeria, they might also end up being 'specially' hanged like Ken Saro Wiwa and eight other Ogoni patriots. Recently the International passport of the Lagos-based human right activist and constitutional lawyer - Mr. Olisa Agbakoba was illegally seized by the Nigerian State Security Services (SSS) in order to prevent him from travelling abroad or going into exile! This is a violaton of his fundamental human rights enshrined in the Nigeria constitution of 1979 and amended in 1989.
Revd. Martin Luther King of the blessed memory in the Black America Revolutionary movement once said "Peace is not the absence of war or conflicts but the presence of justice because there would never be peace without justice". The present Military junta in Nigeria must sincerely realize that JUSTICE IS CERTAIN, no matter how long it may be. Evil doers can never go unpunished. NO WAY! By gone can never be bygone for the world dictators and tyrants. The Nigerian Military must be forced to pay for their continual, persistent and indiscriminate looting of our treasury, the barbaric plunder of both human and natural resources of this great nation in the continent of AFRICA, for the callous assassinations of peace-loving and pro-democracy NIGERIANS, for the unlawful and illegal detention of the opposition groups, for the pains, agonies, nightmares, inflicted on the Nigerian citizens due to the acute socio-economic hardships in which the Nigerian Military is the main architect, they must also pay dearly for their unprintable crimes against humanity. The truth shall come out one day. We are all waiting! The Nigerian Military junta must also be held responsible for the dictatorial political castration of our independent judiciary.
General Collin Powell of USA once explained that the most damaging reports he had ever read in CIA about individuals is about the Nigerian Military dictator-General Sani Abacha of Nigeria. General Sani Abacha and his dear fellow dictators must urgently borrow a leaf from the former South-Korean President Mr. Chundo Wan who was sentenced to death on the 26th of August 1996 by a supreme Court in his native country for his active involvement in the 1979 Military Coup and the gruesome massacre of over 200 demonstrators who were mostly school children. He was found guilty at last! There is a common proverb which says "You can fool some people some of the time, but you can not fool all the people all the time". No Way! Recently, over 41 prisoners were reportedly dead in some of the eastern prisons like Enugu, Aba, Nsukka, Umuahia, Obubu and Ogoja in Nigeria. They died as a result of congestion, poor sanitation, torture and malnutrition. Some of them were even awaiting trials before their untimely death.
Mrs. Saro-Wiwa (mother of the hanged Late great Writer, Poet, Social critic, great nationalist and environmental activist KEN SARO-WIWA) has recently been admitted into a private hospital in Port-Harcourt Nigeria. She has developed a physical mental disorder and hypertension ever since the brutal and callous "special-hanging" of his beloved son Ken and other eight environmentalists. She also foresees her death via the Nigeria Military junta. Such is life!
As from August 27th 1996, the only opposition radio station in Nigeria known as RADIO DEMOCRAT INTERNATIONAL, NIGERIA has now been renamed RADIO KUDIRAT INTERNATIONAL NIGERIA. This is to immortalize the assassinated wife of detained president-elect, Bashorun MKO Abiola. The Radio station broadcasting on the frequency 6205 KHZ in the short wave (49m band) between 10p.m. - 11p.m. Nigerian time (2100-2200 hours UTC). This is the most reliable voice of the Nigerian people. The Nigerian military junta under General Sani Abacha is still in search of the operators of the Democratic Radio Station, which is an effort in futility.

Chief Gani Oyesola Fawehinmi - Lagos based lawyer and frontline human rights activist was illegally arrested and detained on the 30th of January 1996 with no charges levelled against him since his arrest by the Abacha government. His state of health is now a major concern to the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA). He may drop dead any moment from now. He is one of the prisoners of conscience dictatorially detained by the present military junta in Nigeria under General Sani Abacha in Bauchi State prison of NIGERIA. He has no access to adequate medical care and good sanitation.
Chief Gani Oyesola Fawehinmi was released December 1996
General Sani Abacha and his fellow dictators must be called to order now or never by the International community through any measures that are best known to them. The most honourable time for the despotic and dictatorial military government of General Sani Abacha and "Company" to willingly disengage from the seat of power in NIGERIA is today and not the day after tomorrow because delays are very dangerous and unpredictable.
A word should be enough for them. Enough is Enough!
