NIGERIA IN THE MIST OF THE DRASTIC CHANGES
Samuel ADEBOWALE

Just like the military miracle in Nigeria changed its destine overnight. From twentieth richest countries in the world- Nigeria- to one of the twenty poorest countries in the world. What a miracle! So as well, the american miracle workers may need to tell us one day the type of information therapy that strike dead the late president elect(Chief M.K.O Abiola) after their visit to him in his detention villa. More for you to gulp as you read what are the recent stories in Nigerian.

Tell it not in Nigeria! Major-General Musa Yar'adua died of lethal injection (poison) in Abakaliki detention in December 1997. Bill Clinton visited Nigeria in August, 2000. So colourful, no more political prisioners and journalists in detention except of recently Dr. Frederick Fasheun, the founding president of Odua Peoples' Congress (OPC) and five others were arrested and detained and charged for murder, conspiracy, public disturbance and illegal possession of ammunitions. Dr. Fasheun was released on bail this was in relation to the tribal/ethnic disturbance that occur of recent in Nigeria.

Dr. Beko Ransome-kuti "stepped down" as the CD Chairman few months ago and the new CD President is Comrade Moshood Erubami (based in Ibadan). Goke AKIN (GOK), a Nigerian student activist,is now back on campus after his expulsion since 1996. He is now in part 5 Medicine. Wole BADMUS (Wolly B) is now the President of a factionalised and divided National Association of Nigerian Students(NANS). He was once accused of supporting Abacha regime. Chief Gani Fawehinmi; IBB and Chief Kokori, and Falae are preparing for the next Presidential election. Chief Tony Enaharo is now back from exile. Dr. Tunji Abayomi ( Obasanjos' Lawyer) now works at Abuja . Just like the Truth and Reconciliation Commision (TRC) of South Africa, Justice Oputa Panel in Nigeria is now addressing various Human Rights petitions during the Millitary period.

The wicked killers of Notable Nigerians like Alfred Rewane, Kudirat Abiola, Yar Adua, Elegbede, Omotehinwa, Omotshola, and Toyin Onagoruwa and Suliat Adedeji are now confessing their dictatorial sins before the panel. So dramatic! The HITMAN of the assassinations was Sgt Barnabas Msheila Jabila (sgt Rogers). Animal extra ordinaire in human skin. Mohammed Abacha, and Major Mustapha, Major-General Musa Bamaiyi, csp Rabo Lawal, Lateef Shofolahan and many others are currently in detention for human right abuses under Sani Abacha government. Professor Chinua Achebe recently clocked 70, celebration in both Nigeria and Abroad. Do you remember Ken Saro-Wiwa and others on Nov. 10th 2000. The leader of the nine Ogoni criminally hanged by the Abacha regime (Black day for black man on the black continent) 5 years after the hanging, they did in Nigeria over there.
