Born the 6th of March, 1968
MD in 1996, UiB, Norway

blue I completed a project together with a friend and collegue, as a student about female experiences of pelvic examinations. The article "Not so bad after all..." was published in Family Practice, 1997, Vol. 14, No. 2

blue Kirsti Malterud who was our supervicor recruited me, for which I am very glad, to continue in a dissertation project called: How does the doctor find out what is wrong with the female patient? Diagnostic interaction in General Practice. The project focus on the diagnostic prosess as a medical tool in consultations with female patient. How can it be improved in order to secure better health care service for women patients. Important issues are gender and it's impact on the acknowledgement of women's stories in the consultation. Another is how clinical experiences are converted into medical knowledge. My project is part of an ubrella project called "Symptoms as a source to medical knowledge". This calls for many interesting seminars, for which I am happy to be a part of.

blue Right now I enjoy reading about theory of science and especially feminist theory of science. I can recommend a book called "Rhetorical spaces" written by Lorrain Code. It is exciting and comfortable beeing a resaerch fellow, at least for the time beeing!

blue In private I enjoy beeing together with my husband and daughter. I am also very fond of preparing good meals and arranging dinner parties for friends and family, and drinking very good red wine!
