HOSTS [general]
The International Society for Music Education, ISME, was formed
at a conference convened by UNESCO in 1953, to stimulate music education
as an integral part of general education. Through a variety of activities,
ISME has been influential in the development of music education
and is recognised for its contribution of contemporary initiatives
in education internationally. To become a member of ISME, please

Norwegian Association of Music Educators (NAME) is the umbrella
organisation for a number of societies for music and music education
in Norway at all levels from primary to tertiary , and the official
body representing ISME in Norway. NAME has formed ISME Bergen 2002
consisting of the ISME 2002 Board and several subcommittees with
the sole purpose of being the Conference Organising Group (COG)
of the 25th World Conference in Music Education.
The COG co-operates closely with the Grieg Academy, which is a
partnership organisation between Bergen University College and University
of Bergen, with The Municipality of Bergen and a number of other
institutions and sponsors.
