Department of Clinical Medicine, University of Bergen is active in research at an international level in all relevant areas;
medical genetics and molecular medicine, neurology, obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, paediatrics, and psychiatry.

The Department has a special focus on translational research, with an emphasis on the clinical aspects.

Our aim is to further increase the quality and quantity of both our research and education activities. A cornerstone to obtain this is co-operation at the local, national and international level. To facilitate this co-operation for all research groups is our number one priority. Our employees as well as all partners should be taken care of in a professional and friendly way. Department of Clinical Medicine has today more than 50 enrolled candidates in our PhD program, the majority associated with the leading research groups at the Department, and also being members of one or both of our research schools.

My ambition would be that we maintain a good partnership with all our external contacts, and that our scientific, technical and administrative staff take active part in such joint activities. This will be a good way to further improve the core activities; research and education.
