Digital Culture Courses
Digital Culture is focused on humanities-driven investigations of the role that contemporary technologies have in shaping our relationship with each other and to the world. We offer courses on critical approaches to digital media artifacts, on the social ramifications of technology, on web design and development, and on cultural practices specific to the network. All our courses are taught in English.
Undergraduate Courses
We offer a three year bachelor's degree (Bachelor i historie og kultur med spesialisering i digital kultur) which has 90 ECTS in digital culture. Normally, students doing the whole degree would take 60 ECTS of digital culture courses at the 100-level and 30 at the 200-level. One of the classes must be approved as your bachelor's thesis.
Most exchange students come for a semester or two, choosing the courses they are most interested in taking. You can also choose to combine courses from our program with other courses at the University of Bergen.
All our courses are taught in English when there are exchange students present, and in several courses, about half the students are exchange students.
Our students are encouraged to spend a semester on exchange in another country, and so we are very interested in establishing relationships with universities offering similar or complementary courses.
Most courses are 15 ECTS, with some exceptions.
Here is a list of all our bachelor level courses, with links to course descriptions.
Master's Degree in Digital Culture
We offer a two-year MA in Digital Culture. During the first year, students take 60 ECTS in digital culture courses (by agreement, some of this year may be spent on exchange). The second year is devoted to writing the MA thesis. All courses are 15 ECTS.
