About us
The Department of Linguistic, Literary and Aesthetic Studies encompasses a broad range of academic subjects dealing with linguistics, aesthetic forms of expression, Classics and Digital Culture. Tuition is offered in more than 200 courses each year, in a wide range of programmes at the bachelor and master degree level.
The department has approximately 65 academic faculty members, 25-30 PhD candidates and post-doctoral candidates, an administrative staff of 15 and three technical/archive personnel. 16 research groups and a number of externally financed research projects are also connected to the department.
LLE is committed to conducting research of high international quality. Academic faculty collaborate widely with research centres, such as the Centre for Medieval Studies, the Centre for Women’s and Gender Research and Uni Digital - The section of culture, language and information technology (a division of Uni research), as well as with the Norwegian Language Test.

Digital Culture Welcomes our 2012/13 Fulbright Scholar, Leonardo Flores
Coming from the Universidad de Puerto Rico, Leonardo Flores will spend a year in Bergen, combining teaching and research.
