The Norwegian courses
Welcome to the Norwegian courses for foreign students and employees at the University of Bergen.
The Department of Linguistic, Literary and Aesthetic Studies (LLE) offers Norwegian courses for foreign students and employees at the University of Bergen. There are also som places for refugees and immigrants with an academic background.
There is a limited amount of places on each course, and students have to apply for admission to the courses. The courses have different levels, and students have to pass the examination of one level in order to be admitted to the next level. New students with a previous knowledge of Norwegian can have a placement test in order to be placed on the right level.
Level NOR-U01 is an introduction course offered to exchange students who want to attend only one course during their stay in Norway. NOR-U1 is the beginner’s level. NOR-U2 is the intermediate level, and NOR-U3 is the advanced level course. Passing the examination of NOR-U3 fulfils the demands of the knowledge of Norwegian required by Norwegian universities and colleges for admission.
