All of the problems considered here are to do with the simulation of motion and physical processes of oil, gas and water in porous media.
Mathematically, these processes can be modelled by non-linear systems of partial differential equations. To create appropriate physical and mathematical models of flow and transport in porous media, one often works in an environment across several disciplines. The models are based on fundamental physical principles such as conservation of mass and energy or empirical rules such as Darcy's law for volumetric flux.
