The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences carries out research in all traditional scientific disciplines. The faculty has chosen to concentrate on the following fields in particular: marine and climate research, petroleum research, nanoscience, genomic studies and informatics. Teaching is offered at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
BACHELOR’s degree programmes
Application deadline: 1 March
This deadline applies to applicants who meet the Norwegian language requirement.
MASTER´s degree programmes
Application deadline: 1 December
Applies to applicants for the Quota Scheme and applicants covering their own living expenses.
Application deadlines: 15 April (for autumn semester) / 1 November (for spring semester)
Applies to applicants residing in Norway and applicants with a Norwegian ID number
EXCHANGE: ERASMUS, Nordplus and other bilateral exchange
Application deadlines: 15 May (for autumn semester) / 15 October (for Spring semester)

Admission to Bachelor's degree programmes
Admission to undergraduate studies in Norway is coordinated through The Norwegian Universities and Colleges Admission Service (NUCAS). Section for Academic Administration is responsible for admission to regular undergraduate study programmes at the University of Bergen.

International Applicants Residing Abroad
International applicants for Master's degree programmes residing outside Norway must apply by completing our online application form.

International Master Applicants Residing in Norway
Applicants to the master programmes at our faculty who are residing in Norway or who have a Norwegian ID number, have to apply as a Norwegian applicant. Application deadline is 15 April for the autumn term and 1 November for the spring term.

Admission of Exchange Students
International students can apply as exchange students if they are nominated by their home universities for a period of study abroad (1 or 2 semesters). The university of Bergen offers a large number of courses taught in English at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
