Vaccines - a cursed blessing
Vaccines save countless lives every year. In developing countries parents beg to get vaccines for their children, while in rich industrialized countries there are interest groups and individuals who oppose all vaccinations.

Vaccine sceptics take on a heavy responsibility for their own and other children’s health. Without solidarity vaccination dangerous diseases such as measles, polio, diphtheria and whooping cough could spread in the population.
Professor Dr. Med. Bjarne Bjorvatn recently published a book where he presents an overview of 23 vaccines given for potentially dangerous infectious diseases. In his career he has mainly been interested in infectious diseases and microbiology in a global perspective. He has been a professor at Karolinska Insitutet, as well as in Tromsø and in Bergen. Bjorvatn was also part of the group that established the Centre for International Health at UiB in 1988.
