National Projects

NORPEC directly links with and contributes to NFR NORPAST (Past Climates of the Norwegian Region) and NFR NORPAST-2, the NFR NOClim (Norwegian Ocean Climate) project, and with the VISTA (Det Norske Videnskaps-Akademi and Statoil) project on Climate Archives (H.J.B. Birks, H.H. Birks, Wenche Eide (stipendiat)). It also links with several on-going individual projects supported by NFR and EU involving for example, H.J.B. Birks, A. Furnes, A. Nesje, S.O. Dahl, E. Willassen, G. Velle, etc. The group has very close links with or direct membership in the Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research, Bergen.

International Projects

NORPEC is a major Norwegian contribution to the IGBP-PAGES PEPIII transect (Pole-Equator-Pole around the Greenwich Meridian) and the PAGES-LIMPACS programmes. It also has close links with IGCP INTIMATE (Integration of Ice-core, Marine, and Terrestrial records for the last glacial-interglacial transition, the Nordic Ministers' POLARCLIM project (Pollution and Rapid Climatic Changes in the Arctic as recorded by Lake Sedimentary Archives), and the European Science Foundation HOLIVAR (Holocene Climate Variability: comparisons of climate model simulations with palaeoclimate reconstructions) project. It will develop close links with the IGBP PAGES WDC-A International Palaeo-Data System.
