The Payroll Section
The Payroll Section is a separate section with 17 employees. The Payroll Section processes almost 100,000 transactions per year.
We have the following areas of responsibility:
- Administering and paying salaries, fees, hourly wages, reimbursements of travel expenses, grants and other reportable forms of remuneration. This involves paying salary to roughly 4,000 UiB staff and employees in the peripheral zone, and approximately 40,000 one-off payments per year. Salary is paid on the 12th of each month. One-off payments are paid three times per month.
- Sending notification to the Register of Employers and Employees (the AA register) and the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.
- The payment of members’ contributions and the employer’s pension contributions to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.
- The payment of payroll withholding tax, attachments of earnings and employer’s National Insurance contributions to the authorities, and the settlement of other deductions with the relevant authorities
- The transfer of pay data to the accounting system, reconciliations, annual reports. Other reconciliations and allocations of payroll expenses.
- The reimbursement of payroll expenses in connection with maternity and adoption leave, and sick pay.
