Aktuelle fagområder:
Environmental Magnetism: How various applications of rock magnetic methods can be used to understand natural systems and processes over shorter and longer time scales with particular emphasise on the prospect of reconstructing regional and local environmental and climatic conditions.
Glaciers: How various physical processes govern the presence of glaciers and also their ability to produce and transport sediments that eventually is deposition in downstream basins (which can be used to reconstructed past glacier activity) as well as their connectivity to climate change.
Permafrost: Evolution of rockglaciers. Monitoring permafrost thawing and growth in high-altitude landscapes and also how such thermal regimes influence landscape changes.
Geomorphology and weathering: Formation of regolith surfaces. Physical and chemical weathering process on short and long/tectonic time scales. Clay mineral analysis and geochemical elements. Importance of weathering patterns observed in regolith surfaces.
Geomagnetic Field Variations: Reconstructions of the geomagnetic field (paleosecular variations, relative paleointensity) from soft sediment archives and their potential in providing insight to the processes that are responsible for maintaining the Earth’s magnetic field.
Geobiology: Magnetotactic bacteria (MTB) and the possibility of employing reconstructed records of MTB to assess changing environmental conditions in lakes, fjords and oceans. Colonization patterns.
