Research interests

My main focus has been two fold; One on mobility, international migration and place. I have been interested in how mobility connects as well as how social groups and individuals that move to and between places experience these places and how they attempt to shape them. The second focus has been on place development and planning in economical and political terms. These two main topics have also been interrelated in my research, and lies across the fields of urban, rural, economic, political and social geography. Cultural, economical and political factors are thus often incorporated.

Other fields of interests have been various approaches to explanation in human geography, conceptual discussions and philosophy of science, multiculturalism, globalization and connectivity of place.
