My main research interests and current academic projects focus on Precambrian depositional environments and stratigraphy of phenomena as revealed by the sedimentary, geochemical and stable isotopic records, and the effects of interaction between sedimentary, volcanic, biogenic and diagenetic systems. Current field and laboratory work focuses on 2500-2000 Ma rocks from Fennoscandian Shield. More broadly I am investigating palaeoenvironmental changes associated with the oxidation of terrestrial atmosphere during the Archaean-Palaeoproterozoic transition, and the nature of major positive and negative excursions of the carbon isotopes in the Proterozoic.
