Research schools

UiB offers membership in several research schools, some organized around a narrow thematic field, ex The Graduate School of Human Interaction and Growth (GHIG) and others are more interdisciplinary like The Norwegian School in Climate Dynamics. Membership in a research school will provide you with additional research networks of many other PhD-candidates and their supervisors, and often provide you with an international network. You are also encouraged to present the progress of your own research and will receive feed back from other PhD-candidates and professors. Some research schools organize “master classes” for PhD-candidates close to completion. This will prepare the PhD candidate for the defence of his thesis.
