Bolivia
-
The
Postgraduate Centre for Development Studies (CIDES),
Universidad Mayor de San Andres, La Paz. Bolivia. The
Postgraduate Centre for Development Studies (CIDES)
was founded in 1984 to provide the Universidad Mayor
de San Andres (the oldest public University in Bolivia)
with a multi-disciplinary academic centre specialised
in the post-graduate study of development studies.

Universidad de la Cordillera, La Paz,
Bolivia. Based in La Paz this University has developed
a number of Masters accredited degrees aimed specifically
at the study of different aspects of Bolivian social
and cultural life. The Universidad de la Cordillera was
created as an academic institution dedicated to the development
of post-graduate studies. The objective of the University
is to acheive a sustainable academic and institutional
development with specific focus on Bolivia, offering
courses to diploma, Masters and PhD level and carrying
out research of the highest quality in the field of Social
Sciences.
Guatemala
- Facultad Latinamericano
de Ciencias Sociales (FLACSO)
Guatemala. Founded in 1956 the Faculty of Latin American
Social Sciences (FLACSO) is an international, regional
an autonomous organisation that aims to develop the
social sciences and its application in research and
postgraduate teaching. FLACSO currently has representation
in ten Latin American countries. In addition to research
and postgraduate teaching FLACSO carries out important
extension work and collaborates with Universities,
scientific and academic institutions. The centre in
Guatemala was founded in 1986 to work with the other
regional offices in Costa Rica and Nicaragua to contribute
to the development of the level of teaching and research
in the social sciences in the Central American region.At
the moment FLACSO Guatemala has five thematic areas
of Masters level teaching and research: Poverty, Forestry,
Migration, Gender and Security.
India
- Kerala Council
for Historical Research. Founded with the support
of the Indian government the Kerala Council for Historical
Research was created in order to form an opportunity
not only to Keralites but also to the students, knowledge
seekers and the people all over the world to know more
about the state and its rich cultural heritage.
- University
of Travancore/ University of Kerala. The University
of Travancore which eventually became the University
of Kerala was established in 1937 by a promulgation
of the Maharaja of Travancore, Sri Chithira Thirunal
Balarama Varma. It was the sixteenth University to
be set up in India and ten Colleges within the State
of Travancore which were affiliated to the Madras University
became the affiliated colleges of the University of
Travancore. At present, the university has sixteen
faculties and forty-one departments of teaching and
research.
United Kingdom
- Department of Anthropology,
University of Manchester.The Department of Social
Anthropology at Manchester University has long been
recognised, both nationally and internationally, as
one of the foremost centres for research and teaching
in the subject in the United Kingdom. Contributions
made by individual members of staff have sustained
the reputation of the Department, confirmed, once again,
by a 5 rating being awarded in the most recent Higher
Education Funding Council's Research Assessment Exercise,
and by a grade of 'Excellent' in the latest HEFCE review
of the quality of teaching.
- Centre
for Latin American Studies, University of Cambridge. The
Centre was founded in 1966 to promote research and teaching
on Latin America in the University. In addition to offering
a taught M.Phil. course in Latin American Studies, the
Centre sponsors research projects, organizes conferences
and invites scholars from Latin America and universities
around the world to speak at weekly open seminars. The
Centre's staff and students are involved in research
across a wide range of disciplines, including history,
sociology, politics, anthropology, economics, literary
studies and the visual arts.
International
- World Universities Network.
WUN is an international alliance of leading higher-education
institutions WUN builds on its partners’ commitment
to research quality and innovation in order to develop
collaborations in interdisciplinary areas of global significance
WUN provides support for student and faculty exchange, both within the alliance
and with corporate partners. In addition, the partners are working together
to deliver graduate-level distributed learning. WUN will enhance student
choice and pedagogical effectiveness by sharing learning materials, pooling
expertise and developing frameworks for quality assurance and accreditation.
