Admission to Master's Degree Programmes at the Faculty of Psychology


As an international student, you may apply for admission to a full master's degree programme at the Faculty of Psychology, either as a self-financing student or as a student financed through the Quota Scheme. You may also apply if you have a valid residence permit in Norway.

Master's Programmes

The faculty offers two master's degree programmes for international students (admission every second year); Master's programme in Gender and Developement and Master's programme in Health Promotion.

The University of Bergen does not offer any master's programmes in the field of psychology taught in English.

Application Process

The application process to a Master's Programme at UiB depends on which of the following student categories you belong to.

Deadline

The application deadline for applicants residing in Norway is 15 April.

The application deadline for quota students or Self-financing students reciding abroad is 1 December.

How to apply

Applicants residing i Norway

Applicants with a valid residence permit in Norway must apply for admission to Master's degree programmes directly to the Faculty of Psychology following the procedures described below.

  • You must apply electronically using SøknadsWeb. You need a Norwegian ID-number to apply via SøknadsWeb. If you do not have a Norwegian ID-number, you may contact the Centre for Information and Student Services for further information.

  • You will receive a cover sheet to the address you have registered in Søknadsweb. This cover sheet is meant to include all necessary documents needed to consider your application, such as
    - Certified copy of a bachelor degree diploma (or similar degree).
    - Certified copies of all exam transcripts.
    - Exam registrations for the current semester, if you are completing a degree/improving your grades to meet the admission requirements.

  • If you are applying for admission based on an education taken abroad you must also attach the following documents:
    - Course descriptions (including curriculum/reading list) in English, Norwegian or another Scandinavian language, which verify the content of the degree.
    - Description of the credit system (i.e. how many credits are considered to be a full course load) and the grading scale used by the respective foreign university.

  • If you have all your education from a foreign university it is required that you document your English language proficiency.
