Admission to Master's Degree Programmes at the Faculty of Psychology


International students may apply for admission to a full master's degree programme at the Faculty of Psychology. If you live abroad you have to apply as a self-financing student or as a student financed through the Quota Scheme. If you have a valid residence permit in Norway you must apply as a Norwegian resident.

Master's Programmes

The Faculty of Psychology offers two master's degree programmes taught in English. Master's programme in Gender and Developement and Master's programme in Health Promotion. The Master's programmes are of two years duration, full time (120 ECTS credits) and admission is offered every second year.

 

The University of Bergen does not offer any master's programmes in the field of psychology taught in English.

Norwegian residents:

Norwegian residents have to apply directly to the Faculty of Psychology. The deadline for application is 15th of April

The Quota Scheme: 

Students from developing countries and certain countries in Eastern Europe are eligible for scholarships from the Quota scheme.

The deadline for application is 1st of December.

International Master´s degree students:

Master's degree students who are financing their own studies can apply for a full Master's degree programme at the University of Bergen. The deadline for application is 1st of December.

How to apply

Applicants residing i Norway

Applicants with a valid residence permit in Norway must apply for admission to Master's degree programmes directly to the Faculty of Psychology following the procedures described below.

You must apply electronically using SøknadsWeb.

You need a Norwegian ID-number to apply via SøknadsWeb. If you do not have a Norwegian ID-number,you should contact your local tax office to apply for one. You will find more information regarding how to apply for a Norwegian ID number on the web site of Norway.no

You must upload all the following documents to Søknadsweb by 15th of April:

  • Transcript of records (an official statement listing courses/subjects you have completed at your university)
  • University degree certificate(s)/diploma(s), all pages, included description of credit system, work load and grading scale
  • Documentation of exam registrations for the current semester, if you are completing a degree/improving your grades to meet the admission requirements
  • Other relevant documentation:Master’s programmes in Gender and Development and Master’s programme in Health Promotion require a letter of motivation

Information for applicants with a degree taken abroad

If the original language of your documents is not English or a Scandinavian language, officially certified copies of the translation must must be uploaded together with the original documents.

Minimum educational requirement is a Bachelor’s degree or a period of study comparable with a Norwegian Bachelor's degree. Completed higher education must be from a recognized institution. All applicants will receive an e-mail confirming the receipt of their application.

Diplomas and transcripts for exams achieved spring 2013 must be uploaded by 1st of July

All students with education from other universities than the University of Bergen will be asked to present their original University degree certificate(s)/diploma when the programme starts in August.
