Nordic research collaboration
UiB has regularly taken part in research projects with partner organisations from the Nordic countries.
NordForsk
At present, the bulk of Nordic research cooperation is covered by NordForsk, a new institution that was established by the Nordic Council of Ministers for Education and Research and that replaced NorFA. Among ongoing NordForsk projects in which UiB is engaged, we can mention the four Nordic Centres of Excellence in Humanities and Social Sciences: UiB hosts the Nordic Countries and the Medieval Expansion of Europe centre and is a partner in two other centres. The University has also been selected to coordinate the Nordic Marine Academy and nine thematic networks in the humanities, mathematics and natural sciences.
Nordic associations and networks
UiB or its staff are members of various Nordic associations and networks, such as the Nordic Association of University Administrators (NUAS), the Scandinavian Consortium for Organizational Research (SCANCOR), the Scandinavian Society for Immunology (SSI) and the Scandinavian Society of Neuropathology.
