EEA Nationals and their Family Members

Persons from EEA countries can stay and/or work in Norway for a maximum of three months before contacting the immigration authorities. If you wish to stay longer than three months you need to register and document that you have sufficient means of support (income or funds).

In this online form, one should also book an appointment to go to the police station in person. Note that some police stations may have several weeks of waiting before any available time for an appointment.

 

Your registration certificate is valid indefinitely, but only as long as you fulfill the reqirement of sufficient means of support, and are not staying outside Norway for longer than 6 months during the year.

The office for handling residence permits and for registration for foreign nationals in Bergen, is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; from 9:00 - 13:00.

Family Members who are not EEA Citizens

Family members of EEA nationals who are not EEA citizens themselves, may apply for a residence card. The application can be sent before or after arrival in Norway.

 

Permanent Residence Permit

After five years of residency in Norway, it is possible for EEA nationals and their non-EEA nationals family to apply for permanent right of residence.
