Registration formalities at UiB
Some registration formalities need to be taken care of during the first days after your arrival in Norway.
Access to the University's IT resources
New employees must fill in a web-based application form to apply for a user account in order to gain access to the University's IT resources. You must apply from the University's network. Order your it-account from: https://sebra.uib.no/sebra/?lang=english. (Remember to save registration code and registration PIN). When the application is approved you will gain access to e-mail, the University network, the intranet and common areas at your place of employment.
For short-time visiting researchers; in order to get access to the it-system (internet and printers) ask your host for a 'course-account'.
If you have any IT related problems or questions, read what you can do here. Employees may call the service desk at (555) 84700.
Access/employee card/library card
You need an access card to gain entry to several of the buildings at UiB. The administration at your unit can provide you with the application form and direct you to the card center (at the Student centre) for photo. Bring along your ID documents. The card is also your library card.
There are also possible to get special card for visitors.
Keys to office
Each unit will have a member of staff who is responsible for issuing keys to new employees and guests.
On arrival your employer should provide you with a workplace with a pc and access to a telephone. The telephone may be restricted to only making national calls or no mobile calls. The administration at your unit is in charge of these restrictions, so if you have problems calling someone, you should talk to the administration about the accessibility and for changing this.
Parking
The University has parking facilities at both Nygårdshøyden and at Årstadvollen. Employees and students with valid parking permits can park here on the first come first served basis. For application forms for parking permits and further information, talk to the administration on your unit or contact the Department of Estate and Facilities Management.
