The Bergen Transculturation Studies research group is a local "chapter" of the Nordforsk funded "Nordic Network for Literary Transculturation Studies."

Each semester the group host a series of seminars focused on questions pertaining to various aspects of transculturation. The concept of transculturation names process as well as phenomena, and can be explored in a number of different ways, and from the vantage point of different disciplines and methodological angles. It remains, however, a concept framed by ideas of cultural encounters and ensuing processes of exchange and revisions, and aligns closely with postcolonial-, cultural-, and border studies, no mention some.

The series oscillates between talks by invited speakers and reading based seminars (readings are distributed in advance to those interested). The program for each semester can be found under "Projects."  When relevant, abstracts are also posted there.

The seminars are open to all interested, and if you would like to receive emails with information about the meetings, or have any questions, please contact Lene.Johannessen@if.uib.no
