F1 The Future of Russian

The "Future of Russian" project's first conference will take place 17-20 June 2009 in Bergen (Solstrand). The title of the conference is almost identical to the general title of the project: "The Future of Russian I: Language Culture in the Era of New Technology". The main thing, at this stage, it to consolidate the network, get an overview of people in the field and of work in progress on the topic and lay the foundations for our joint efforts during the next couple of years. You are welcome to address any of the three subfields within the general project framework (1. Russian on the Internet; 2. The Russian Literary Internet; 3. Linguistic Negotiation in the Internet).

Conference languages and time limits

Russian and English

Slots for presentations are for 40 minutes, with 30 minutes presentation time and 10 minutes for questions and discussion.

Practicalities

The conference proper will take place 18-19 June, while 17 June is day of arrival (we gather for dinner in the evening). There will be an optional excursion on Saturday 20 June (the fjords) with an additional overnight stay in the centre of Bergen 20-21 June, 2009. 21 June is day of departure for those taking part in the excursion.
