National Centre for Ultrasound in Gastroenterology

Professor Svein Ødegaard is the Director of National Centre for Ultrasound in Gastroenterology at Haukeland University Hospital.

Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) has been performed at Haukeland University
Hospital, University of Bergen, since 1987. This method has made it possible to
image small lesions which often can not be seen using other imaging techniques,
and to obtain EUS-guided biopsies, to perform EUS-guided therapeutic procedures
and to study pathophysiology of the gut.
