Bergen Judgement & Decision Making and Social Cognition (JDM-SC)

The members of the research group “Bergen J/DM and Social Cognition” share an interest in cognitive and social factors involved in various judgement and decision making processes. We aim at studying social psychological phenomena by investigating the various cognitive and contextual processes underlying such phenomena. Group members conduct research on the effects of contextual factors for understanding the basis of experiences, risk judgements and decisions, in the generic sense as well as in various applied areas (such as for example tourism and genetic testing). We are interested in studying cognitive processes involved in the perception, judgment, and memory of different social stimuli; as well as in studying the effects of social and affective factors on information processing.

Our main research projects concern (but are not limited to) the study of the conceptual basis for various judgemental processes, cognitive, affective and social processes in J/DM, individual–differences in social cognition, and a theoretical analysis of the self.
