The Bergen Relational Theory and Psychotherapy Research Group (RTPR) is a research team at the University of Bergen, Norway. It was formally established in 2006. The group’s main objective is to conduct conceptual and empirical research in psychotherapy, in order to advance knowledge about psychotherapy processes, mechanisms of change, and treatment outcome. Psychotherapy training and clinical supervision are also topics of interest. Research in natural clinical settings is encouraged. The guiding theoretical model for the group’s research efforts is interpersonal and relational theory, and developmental psychopathology. Methodologically, the group endorses qualitative as well as quantitative approaches to data collection and analysis.
