Membership

As a member of Grieg Research School you will be part of a strong, vital and creative academic milieu. Membership is free for candidates from the four owner institutions, and you will have free participation in all courses and events arranged by GRS. This includes both PhD candidates and candidates who are taking part in other relevant research qualification programs. The latter includes candidates in “førstelektorløp” and in “Stipendiatprogrammet for kunstnerisk utviklingsarbeid.” The owner institutions are Stord/Haugesund University College, Volda University College, Bergen University College and the University of Bergen. Candidates from other institutions (nationally and internationally) can be affiliated with the research school (contact us for more information).

Grieg Research School in Interdisciplinary Music Studies

- we offer research education courses that gather ph.d. candidates in a range of music disciplines, such as music education, music therapy, musicology, and music performance/composition.

- our orientation is international and our platform regional: the research school is based in a network between several MusicNet West institutions: Bergen University College, Stord/Haugesund University College, Volda University College, and the University of Bergen.

    Viva Voce Examination - Audun Myskja

    June 22 at 10 am Audun Myskja will defend his doctoral thesis at a viva voce examination at the Grieg Academy. Myskja's dissertation is about the use of music and music therapy in nursing homes.

    Researching music practices – methodological approaches

    Grieg Research School and Bergen University College invite you to an international research seminar on methodology - a core issue for every researcher. This seminar will explore how various approaches to research methodology may support and challenge each other. The seminar will be held in Bergen June 18-21.
