Solstrand workshop 2012
March 13–14 Victoria Rosén will hold a workshop on written and oral presentation in English at Solstrand.
Dates: March 13–14
Venue: Solstrand Hotel & Bad
English has become a lingua franca of academic life, and being able to communicate well in English, both orally and in writing, is important for a successful academic career. The aim of this workshop is to raise the awareness among the participants of how they can improve their own English. The workshop is appropriate for all Research School participants who do not have English as a native (or near-native) language and who would like to improve their English presentation skills. All participants must prepare both a written and an oral presentation in English. The written presentation may be any part of the dissertation or of an article, and must be submitted in advance. The oral presentation will be given at the seminar. Both will be commented on with respect to how the English may be improved.
Victoria Rosén, a native speaker of English with long experience in writing and editing academic texts in English, will be the teacher at the course. She is Associate Professor of linguistics at the University of Bergen and has been the leader of the Research School since 2011.
You can sign up for the workshop by sending an e-mail to Martin Paulsen no later than January 30.
