The Research School has been established for the PhD candidates in linguistics and philology at the University of Bergen.

The main aims of the PhD Research School at the Faculty of Arts, University of Bergen, are to:

  • increase the quality of the PhD program and the PhD candidates' education
  • provide an academic and social meeting place for its candidates
  • improve the completion rate of the Faculty's PhD program.

The Research School is directed by Assoc. Prof. Victoria Rosén, Department of Linguistic, Literary and Aesthetic Studies. An advisory committee has also been appointed, consisting of representatives from the areas of linguistics and language studies. The coordinator of the Research School is Martin Paulsen, Department of Foreign Languages.

The Research School started operating in October 2004 and offers a program based on a flexible yearly cycle.

The Research School is intended for the PhD candidates in linguistics and philology at the University of Bergen, but welcomes PhD candidates from other institutions as well, subject to certain limitations for individual courses.
