Coordinating research training in climate dynamics

The Norwegian Research School in Climate Dynamics (ResClim) is a research training environment for PhD candidates in climate dynamics. The school will give students in-depth knowledge in their specific discipline within climate research, trans-disciplinary knowledge in the dynamics of the entire climate system, insight into the political and societal impacts of climate change, and the necessary skills to play an active role in appropriately predicting, mitigating, and adapting to climatic and environmental change.

RecClim organizes the following activities:

  • Short courses covering themes from classic climate dynamics and statistics to more specialized courses on transferrable skills and global challenges on various topics
  • At least one summer school will be organized each year
  • Specialized workshops and symposiums bringing students and expert scientist together

All activities will include national and international participants and lecturers.

ResClim provides a network of students and supervisors within the field of climate dynamics. In addition, ResClim will:

  • Provide support for travel and stay for participation in courses at partner institutions.
  • Support shorter research stays at one of the international partner institutions.
  • Organise and support participation and presentations at international conferences and symposia
  • Improve research facilities for the students. Examples are to support smaller laboratory equipments, analyses costs, and field trips.
