Master's Programme in Meteorology and Oceanography

Objectives / Contents

The aim is to provide you as a student with the skills to work in the fields of oceanography, climatology and meteorology. The content of the Master's Programme in Meteorology and Oceanography is the physics of the atmosphere and ocean, including dynamics, thermodynamics, and radiation processes.

 

Within the Master's Programme in Meteorology and Oceanography, you can choose among the following specialisations:

  • Physical Oceanography
  • Climatology
  • Meteorology
  • Chemical oceanography

Admission requirements

Specialization in Fysical Oceanography

BS in meteorology and oceanography, physics, mathematics, informatics or equivalent, including courses equivalent to GEOF110">http://www.uib.no/course/GEOF110GEOF110 , GEOF120">http://www.uib.no/course/GEOF120GEOF120 and GEOF130">http://www.uib.no/course/GEOF130GEOF130 . The average grade of the bachelor's degree has to be at least 2nd class, upper division/B. At the last admission were all qualified applicants admitted.

 

Specialization in Chemical Oceanography

BS in meteorology and oceanography, physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology or equivalent, including courses equivalent to GEOF110">http://www.uib.no/course/GEOF110GEOF110 , GEOF120">http://www.uib.no/course/GEOF120GEOF120 and GEOF130">http://www.uib.no/course/GEOF130GEOF130 . GEOF236">http://www.uib.no/course/GEOF236GEOF236 has to be taken as a part of the BS or the MS. The average grade of the bachelor's degree has to be at least 2nd class, upper division/B. At the last admission were all qualified applicants admitted.

 

Specialization in Climate Dynamics

The Degree

The Master's programme leads to the degree Master of Science in Meterology and Oceanography. It is a two year programme.

(120 ECTS credits).
