Master's Programme in Informatics

Objectives / Contents

The candidates who have completed their study shall have substantial founded knowledge and skills in informatics. They shall have obtained a thorough introduction to scientific work methods and training in self-contained work doing extensive and demanding technical tasks. They will have developed special skills within a research field, and a good overview of other research fields.

 

Within the master program in informatics the candidates are admitted to one of the follwing specializations/programme options:

 

  • Algorithm Theory
  • Visualization
  • Secure and reliable communication
  • Optimization
  • Bioinformatics

 

Admission requirements

 

General admission criterias:

You must have obtained a first degree (bachelor's degree) of three or four years duration from an approved institution of higher education.

Your bachelor's degree must include mimimum 20 ECTS of Mathematics and minimum 60 ECTS of Informatics/Computer science.

 

Additional credits in Mathematics and/or Informatics can be an advantage.

 

Documentation of proficiency in English is also necessary if you are reciding abroad, or you have an international background.

 

Note that the master's programme has a limited number of places.

For international self-financing applicants:

The Master's Degree Programme in Informatics recieves appox. 140 - 180 applications from self-financing students each year. Appox. 5-8 applicants are given an offer of admission.

The average grade of the Bachelor's degree must be at least 2nd class upper division/B or the equivalent as academic result.

It is very important that you enter in your application what programme option/specialization you are interested in (Algorithms, Optimization, Bioinformatics, Secure and reliable communications or Visualization).

 

Quota Scheme

The Master's Degree Programme in Informatics are not a part of the Quota Scheme, and therefore we do not accept Quota applicants.

The Degree

The master´s programme leads to the degree Master of Science in Informatics. It is a two year programme

(120 ECTS credits).
