The aim of the programme is to give a deep understanding of the nutritional requirements of fish and other farmed aquatic organisms. The programme covers research within broodstock nutrition (feed and feeding regimes, vitellogenesis, egg quality) and juvenile nutrition (embryo development, endogenous feeding, live feeds, first feeds), feed resources, growth and quality of food fish, as well as the interaction between nutrition and health (malnutrition, interaction with environment, nutritional immunology, production problems) and nutritional toxicology. The master's thesis can be within any of these topics.

The selection of students for admission to the Master's programme in Nutrition - Marine is based on the following criteria:
* Completed a first-degree study of at least three years (BSc) from an approved institution of higher education, or an equivalent background accepted by the University of Bergen
* Your Bachelor's degree must include knowledge and competence in biology corresponding to 60 ECTS (one academic year) and should be documented with course descriptions and learning outcomes for the degree
* Academic degree not older than two years (exceptions can be made if the applicant has relevant work experience)
* A good command of English
Additional consideration is given to the following:
* Lab experience and practical field experience (must be documented)
* Depth and relevance of educational training
* Extent and relevance of work experience
* Connection to cooperating institutions of UiB (required for the Quota Scheme)
* The applicant's prospects for having a productive career in the special field of study
* Consideration to ensure diversity in the pool of students admitted to the programme
Number of self-financing students admitted to the master programme: max 3 students

The Degree
The master´s programme leads to the degree Master of Science in Nutrition. It is a two year programme
(120 ECTS).
