Admission to Master's Degree Programmes
The Faculty of Social Sciences offers a number of master's degree programmes both in English and Norwegian. International applicants residing in Norway must apply for admission to master's degree programmes electronically at the faculty.
What may I apply for
Programmes starting in the autumn semester (August 2012):

- Masterprogram i sosialantropologi

- Master's Programme in Development Geography
- Master's Programme in Public Administration

- The Master's Programme in Anthropology of Development

Master programmes starting both in the the autumn (August 2012) and spring semester (January 2012):
Admission Requirements
Applicants must normally have obtained an undergraduate/bachelor's degree of 4 years' duration, or have an equivalent educational background.
The degree must include courses equalling at least 1 - 1 1/2 years of full-time studies in a subject relevant to that of the programme applied for.
At least 2nd Class, Upper Division/B, or the equivalent is normally required to be considered for admission.
Non-native English speakers must also document their English language proficiency.
Please note that some master programmes may have additional admission requirements specific to their programme. Please refer to the website of each programme for more information.
How do I apply
You need a valid residence permit in Norway and a Norwegian ID number.
The deadline for master programmes starting in the spring semester 2012 is
1 November.
The deadline for application to the English master programmes is 15 April. You apply electronically at Søknadsweb using your Norwegian ID number. The website Søknadsweb opens one month before application deadline.
When you have submitted your application at Søknadsweb, you will receive a file (omslagsark)from the faculty. The file will be sent to the address you have registered in Søknadsweb, so please check that this is your correct address when applying. The file will contain information regarding the documentation required.
You are asked to complete the file and with the required documentation enclosed, return the file to the faculty.
Applicants are required to return the file even if they have already sent their documentation.
Applicants who do not return their files will not be considered for admission.
Admission Process
Once the faculty has received the files, the evaluation of the applicants will start. The result of the evaluation and the offer of admission will be ready in July. The result will be communicated to your through Søknadsweb. Your will also receive a Letter of Acceptance or a Letter of Rejection.
